I read this excerpt from a girls blog; she combines the topic of food with deep and meaningful ideas. The food was spaghetti and the connection is that people need other people in fellowship. This had my own mind reeling: spaghetti is long and connected… unless it is cut.
I need my spaghetti cut as its it is easier for me to spoon it in my mouth this way, which made me think of human bonds, friendships in particular. As children, we always we make are going to stick around forever, but as we age and grow the spaghetti string that ties us together starts to break. Eventually you find new friends, sometimes the bond holds, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes broken spaghetti bond mold back together.
Of coarse, we need those thick bonds of Bucatini with people. Bonds that are strong with people who we can trust, who we can vent to and cry with, and laugh with, and smile with. To be in fellowship with.
There's a beauty to pasta; there are so many different kinds and it is maluable. There is a beauty to people: we are complicated.
9 Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. 10 If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. 11 Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? 12 A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
